Still short of 25 followers and a 3-viewer average? That's Twitch's gate, not your viewers'. Brillay has no follower minimum and no application to pass, so the viewer who'd pay you tonight can pay you tonight.

Below Affiliate, Bits pile up in a Spendable Balance you can't withdraw. A Tip or a Paid Question from your panel link is money that actually gets paid out to you: the follower pays upfront by card as a guest, once, with no account to create.

Twitch requires 25 followers to apply for Affiliate, plus, within a trailing 30 days, 4 hours broadcast, streams on 4 different days, and an average of 3 concurrent viewers on at least 4 of those days. Partner has no published follower number at all β€” it depends on completing the Path to Partner achievement and passing manual review. Tips let followers send a one-time thank-you, with nothing for you to deliver and no membership for them to join.

In short: Twitch Affiliate requires 25 followers plus 4 broadcast hours, 4 stream days, and an average of 3 concurrent viewers on at least 4 days in 30 days. Partner has no published follower minimum. Before either gate, followers can buy one-time offers from your Brillay page without creating an account.

How many followers does Twitch Affiliate require?

Twitch Affiliate requires exactly 25 followers, alongside three activity requirements measured in the same trailing 30-day window: 4 hours broadcast, streaming on 4 different days, and an average of 3 concurrent viewers on at least 4 of those days. All four conditions must be satisfied at the same time before Twitch issues an Affiliate invitation.

Affiliate requirementThresholdWindow
Followers25No time limit β€” a running total
Broadcast hours4 hoursTrailing 30 days
Unique broadcast days4 different daysTrailing 30 days
Average concurrent viewers3, on at least 4 daysTrailing 30 days

All four boxes have to be checked at once: 25 followers gathered a year ago still count toward the follower total, but Twitch measures the hours, days, and viewer average "in the last 30 days," so those three counters mechanically fall as soon as a streamer stops going live. A long gap between streams can therefore push a channel back below the activity bar even after the follower count is already there β€” a consequence of the rolling window itself, not a separate Twitch penalty. Twitch also requires two-factor authentication on the account before Affiliate onboarding can begin, and states that "you must enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your account to begin Affiliate onboarding".

Does Twitch Partner have a follower requirement?

No. Twitch publishes no follower minimum for Partner. Partner instead requires completing the Path to Partner achievement β€” 25 streamed hours, 12 different stream days, and 75 average concurrent viewers within a 30-day period (Twitch Help β€” Achievements) β€” and then passing a manual application review that Twitch does not guarantee even after the achievement is complete.

Path to Partner milestoneTargetWindow
Streaming time25 hours30 days
Active stream days12 different days30 days
Average audience75 average concurrent viewers30 days

Twitch's own language frames the Path to Partner achievement as a gate to apply rather than an automatic outcome: Twitch says a streamer who completes it "should be able to maintain the criteria set forth in the Achievement on a consistent basis". Twitch adds a consistency test on top of the achievement: Twitch requires at least 6 individual streams meeting the 75-average-viewer minimum in each of the two consecutive months before a Partner application (Twitch Help β€” Partner Program Overview). Twitch also allows an alternative Partner route for creators with "a large, engaged viewership or following established on other services," but that route still requires an application rather than an automatic follower cutoff.

Can you make money on Twitch with zero followers?

Partly. Twitch's Monetization for All rollout, which began May 13, 2026, opened Channel Points, subs, emotes, badges, and Bits to eligible streamers globally with no follower requirement, but a cash payout still requires Affiliate or Partner status (Twitch Blog β€” Monetization for All). Access to Twitch's monetization tools and the ability to withdraw money are two separate gates.

"While we're giving all streamers access to monetization tools, streamers must earn Partner or Affiliate status to receive a payout." β€” Twitch Blog, Monetization for All

Twitch's stated workaround for pre-Affiliate streamers is Spendable Balance, which lets a streamer accumulate Bits and gift subs from viewer support and spend that balance inside Twitch β€” cheering, gifting subs to others β€” rather than withdrawing it as cash. A zero-follower streamer can therefore receive Bits from viewers today but cannot cash those Bits out until Affiliate or Partner status is reached.

What is Twitch's minimum payout amount once you qualify?

$50. Twitch holds Affiliate and Partner earnings until the balance crosses a $50 standard minimum payout threshold, or $100 when the payout method is wire transfer (Twitch Help β€” When Am I Getting Paid?). Balances under the applicable threshold carry over to the next payout cycle instead of being paid out partially.

Twitch pays qualifying balances on a Net-15 schedule, meaning payouts are issued starting from the 15th of the month following the month the revenue was earned (Twitch Help β€” Payout Details FAQ).

"You'll receive your payment on or around the 15th of each month if your status is payable." β€” Twitch Help β€” When Am I Getting Paid?

Clearing 25 followers and the Affiliate activity requirements therefore does not produce an immediate payment: a fully qualified Affiliate can still be waiting on a first Twitch deposit if Bits, subs, and ad revenue have not yet crossed $50 combined.

How long does it typically take to reach 25 followers and Affiliate?

Twitch publishes no average time-to-Affiliate figure, so no reliable single number applies to every channel. The binding constraint is the three activity requirements β€” 4 hours broadcast, 4 different stream days, and an average of 3 concurrent viewers β€” which reset on a rolling 30-day window, while the 25-follower total carries no time limit and never resets (Twitch Help β€” Joining the Affiliate Program).

A streamer who goes live only once or twice a month keeps resetting the 30-day clock on hours and days even after the follower count clears 25, because Twitch measures those requirements "in the last 30 days". Twitch publishes no data on which of the four requirements stalls the most channels, so "stream consistently" is practical guidance derived from how the rolling window works rather than a Twitch statistic. Treat any specific "average time to Affiliate" number found online as an unsourced estimate rather than a Twitch figure. On Twitch, reaching the follower requirement does not guarantee immediate income because the activity requirements and minimum payout threshold still apply. What can you do while you're below Affiliate or Partner?

A channel below Affiliate or Partner cannot cash out Twitch-native earnings, so the remaining option is an external payment page linked from the channel bio, panels, or video description. Twitch's Terms of Service, last modified August 12, 2026, reserve exclusivity over advertising sold on Twitch rather than over payments a viewer chooses to make on another website.

Section 12 of Twitch's Terms of Service states that "Twitch has the exclusive right to monetize the Twitch Services, including without limitation, the exclusive right to sell, serve, and display advertisements on the Twitch Services," and Twitch's own plain-language summary of that section says it "delineate[s] who may sell and serve advertisements on Twitch". Section 16 of the same Terms of Service explicitly contemplates outbound links from Twitch to third-party "Reference Sites" and makes each user "responsible for deciding if you want to access or use third-party websites or applications that link from the Twitch Services".

What is verifiable is narrower and useful: a direct-payment page carries no Twitch follower gate, no minimum audience, and no Twitch review step, because it is not a Twitch product β€” the same logic behind how interior designers make money online with a client-facing booking page instead of a platform payout.

No monthly fee, you only pay a small platform fee when you get paid. 8% platform fee when a follower pays for work, 5% platform fee on tips and goals. Card processing is separate (Brillay pricing page). Brillay applies no follower minimum to any offer β€” the same flat, no-gate fee structure covered in how personal finance creators make money online. Stripe processing fees are deducted separately from creator earnings and vary by payment and country; 2.9% + $0.30 is only a US online-card reference rate, not a universal Brillay fee (Stripe pricing).

Brillay supports creator payouts in 41 countries. Followers can pay by card from anywhere; creator payouts are available in supported countries. Brazil and India are not supported Brillay payout countries; for general Stripe payout documentation, see Stripe Docs β€” Receive payouts, "Country-specific payout restrictions".

Put one Brillay link in your Twitch bio, panels, or video description and use that page for all your offers (how it works). Followers can buy a paid offer by card as guests, while brands can send a free inquiry through Brand Collaboration Inquiries. With Paid Questions, a follower pays your set price to ask one private question, and you send back one written reply within the reply time you set. For Personalized Videos, you set a fixed price and delivery time for one custom video, such as a birthday message or hype clip. Both offers have no follower minimum: they work whether your channel has 10 followers or 10,000, and the same paid-Q&A format is how gaming coaches make money online outside of Twitch's own tools entirely. Viewers pay upfront, and you deliver later; if you decline a request, it closes and the viewer keeps their money. Defined one-delivery offers keep the ask clear for a small channel: one reply, one video, or one service delivery closes the order.

Do Twitch Affiliate and Partner requirements ever change?

Yes, and the Affiliate bar has moved downward. Twitch's Help Center currently lists 25 followers, 4 hours streamed, 4 stream days, and an average of 3 viewers on 4 days, while an Internet Archive capture of Twitch's own Affiliate help article dated February 6, 2019 listed 50 followers, 500 total broadcast minutes, and 7 unique broadcast days.

That earlier bar is documented in Twitch's own words in the archived page, which also warned that the criteria would move:

"The criteria for Affiliates is likely to change as we develop the program. At launch we invited non partnered broadcasters who have: At least 500 total minutes broadcast in the last 30 days; At least 7 unique broadcast days in the last 30 days; An average of 3 concurrent viewers or more over the last 30 days; At least 50 Followers." β€” Twitch Help, "Joining the Affiliate Program," archived February 6, 2019 by the Internet Archive

Twitch did not publish a standalone announcement for the reduction to 25 followers, so use Twitch's current Help Center and your Creator Dashboard progress tracker rather than community reports or older third-party guides. Because Twitch maintains no public change log for Affiliate thresholds, the Twitch Help Center article and a channel's own Creator Dashboard progress tracker are the only authoritative record of the current numbers, and figures repeated in older third-party guides β€” including the 50/500/7 set still published by many 2026 blog posts β€” can be out of date.

Kick's monetization program uses a different structure entirely β€” see how much do small Kick streamers make for Kick's own numbers rather than assuming Twitch's thresholds carry over.

Frequently asked questions

Do Twitch followers alone determine when you get paid?

No. Followers are one of four Affiliate requirements (25 followers plus 4 hours, 4 days, and an average of 3 viewers within 30 days), and Partner has no published follower number at all β€” Partner depends on the Path to Partner achievement and manual review (Twitch Help β€” Joining the Affiliate Program).

Can you lose Affiliate eligibility after reaching 25 followers?

The follower count itself does not reset, but the activity requirements (hours, days, average viewers) are measured in a rolling 30-day window, so a long break between streams can put a channel back below the activity bar even with 25 followers intact (Twitch Help β€” Joining the Affiliate Program).

Does Twitch Affiliate require two-factor authentication?

Yes. Twitch requires two-factor authentication on the account before Affiliate onboarding can begin, and the same requirement applies to Partners.

Does having zero followers mean Twitch pays you nothing?

Twitch's Monetization for All update lets eligible streamers with no follower requirement receive Bits, subs, and Channel Points through Spendable Balance, but a cash payout still requires Affiliate or Partner status.

What's the minimum Twitch will actually pay out?

Twitch holds earnings until they cross a $50 standard threshold, or $100 for wire transfer payouts, regardless of follower count or Affiliate/Partner status.

Does Brillay require a minimum follower count?

No. Brillay has no follower minimum and no application to pass for any offer, so a channel still well short of Twitch's 25-follower Affiliate bar can take a Tip or a Paid Question from its very first follower.

Create your free Brillay page, put one link on Twitch, and start with a clear ask: a $3 Tip, a $25 Paid Question, a $25 custom request, or a $50 Personalized Video. Each is a one-time purchase, not a membership. You do not need every viewer to pay: a small menu lets the people already asking for advice, a Personalized Video, or a way to support you choose for themselves.
