How to Add a Link to Your Spotify Artist Profile

Spotify for Artists gives you three real link slots — social links in the About section, an Artist Pick, and a Fan Support link — but each has limits. Here's how each one works.

Three link slots on your Spotify profile — social, Artist Pick, Fan Support — and not one of them can sell a custom verse or a mix note. Where does that request go?

FanBell is a link in your bio where fans pay you directly for:

To one FanBell page you promote through the socials Spotify does link to: fans pay before you start, you keep 88%, and there is no follower minimum.

To add a link to your Spotify artist profile, open Spotify for Artists and edit one of its supported placements: social links in About, an Artist Pick for eligible Spotify content, or Fan Support for approved fundraising partners. Spotify does not turn URLs typed into your artist bio into clickable links.

Spotify's own bio guidance caps the field at 1,500 characters and names only two ways to create a link inside it — an @tag pointing to an artist, album, playlist, or track, or a pasted Spotify link — with no mention of plain external URLs becoming clickable (Spotify for Artists Support — Adding a bio).

How do I add social media links to my Spotify artist profile?

Use Spotify for Artists rather than the regular Spotify listener app:

  1. Sign in at artists.spotify.com with access to the claimed artist profile.
  2. Open Profile and locate the About section.
  3. Select Edit beside the social-links area.
  4. Add the supported profile URLs and select Save.

Spotify says social links “appear in the About section of your profile in the Spotify app” (Spotify for Artists Support).

The field accepts exactly four platforms — Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, and Wikipedia — per Spotify's own blog on the feature (Spotify for Artists blog). It is not a general-purpose field for an artist website, online store, link-in-bio page, or other external URL.

Can an Artist Pick link to any external website?

No. An Artist Pick is not an unrestricted external-link slot: Spotify's own instructions state it "sits at the top of your profile" and require artists to search for content or paste a Spotify link, so the pasted URL must lead to content Spotify's Artist Pick system recognizes (Spotify for Artists Support — Managing your Artist Pick).

To create an Artist Pick:

  1. Open the Spotify for Artists mobile app.
  2. Select the Profile tab.
  3. Tap + under Artist Pick.
  4. Search for supported content or paste its Spotify link.
  5. Add a caption if desired, then save the Pick.

Spotify's own support article names the exact content types Artist Pick can showcase: "songs, albums, music videos, or playlists," "concerts," "merch," or "podcast shows or episodes (web only)" — nothing outside that list, so it cannot be described as a way to paste an arbitrary website, store, or paid-interaction URL.

What is a Spotify Fan Support link?

Fan Support is Spotify’s dedicated option for artists who want to “raise funds from fans on Spotify”. Spotify renamed the feature from Artist Fundraising Pick to Fan Support on May 26, 2022.

Fan Support accepts approved fundraising partners rather than arbitrary URLs. As of September 2026, Spotify approves exactly three partners for U.S. accounts — Cash App, GoFundMe, and PayPal.Me — while other partners are region-locked: Givealittle only in New Zealand, Mercado Pago and PayU only in parts of Latin America, and iyzico only in Turkey (Spotify for Artists Support — Fan Support fundraising partners).

Fan Support is suitable for donations and fundraising. It is not a built-in storefront for selling a personalized message, answered question, or other specific service.

How do Spotify’s profile link placements compare?

Spotify's artist profile has exactly four link-bearing fields — social links, Artist Pick, Fan Support, and the plain-text bio — and each one accepts a different, narrowly defined set of destinations rather than any external URL, per Spotify for Artists' own documentation for each feature.

Where should each supported Spotify link lead?

Send each Spotify placement to the destination it was built for — active social profiles in the social-links field, current releasable content in Artist Pick, and an approved fundraising partner in Fan Support — rather than treating any of them as a general-purpose link slot. Match the destination to the placement:

  • Social links: Use one of the four supported platforms — Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, or Wikipedia — for a profile you update regularly and where fans can find your other links, such as your Pinterest profile or your Snapchat profile.
  • Artist Pick: Feature eligible Spotify content — a release, playlist, concert, merch item, or podcast episode — that matters most right now.
  • Fan Support: Use one of the three U.S.-approved partners (Cash App, GoFundMe, or PayPal.Me) when collecting donations or raising money for a project.
  • Bio: Explain who you are in up to 1,500 characters, but do not rely on a typed URL because it will not become clickable.

If your broader goal is deciding which destinations to promote outside Spotify, see what creators should put in a link in bio and how to monetize a link in bio. Those strategies apply to channels that permit general external URLs; they do not override Spotify’s placement restrictions. If SoundCloud is part of your off-Spotify funnel, compare SoundCloud artist payout requirements before making it a primary fan destination.

How can musicians share paid-interaction links outside Spotify?

Spotify does not document a general external-URL field for selling questions, shoutouts, tips, or custom services directly from an artist profile. Musicians can instead share those links through websites, email, a newsletter such as your Substack profile, or social profiles that allow external destinations. For a professional profile, you can also add links to a LinkedIn profile through Contact info or Featured.

One option built for that gap: FanBell hosts paid questions, personalized shoutouts, tips, and project support on a single external page, with no follower minimum, no monthly fee, and a flat 12% fee charged only when a fan pays (pricing); payouts go to a connected bank account through Stripe (how it works). A FanBell URL still has to be promoted through a channel that accepts general external links — Spotify's own placements do not accept it.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the URL in my Spotify artist bio not clickable?

Spotify's bio field is capped at 1,500 characters and only turns @tags and pasted Spotify links into clickable elements, so a typed external URL stays plain text. Use the supported social-links area, an eligible Artist Pick, or an approved Fan Support partner instead.

Can I add my website or online store directly to Spotify?

No: Spotify's social-links field is limited to Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, and Wikipedia, with no general website or store option, and Artist Pick only takes songs, albums, playlists, concerts, merch, or podcast shows/episodes rather than arbitrary URLs. Fan Support is limited to approved fundraising partners.

Do I need Spotify for Artists to manage profile links?

Yes. Social links, Artist Pick, and Fan Support are all managed through Spotify for Artists, which requires access to the claimed artist profile. They cannot be edited from the public artist page in the regular listener experience.

Can fans pay me directly through my Spotify profile?

Fan Support lets fans contribute through one of three approved U.S. partners — Cash App, GoFundMe, or PayPal.Me (Spotify for Artists Support — Fan Support fundraising partners). Spotify does not provide a general built-in option for fans to purchase a specific question, shoutout, or custom service from the artist profile.

What should I do next?

Add your supported social profiles, choose eligible Spotify content for your Artist Pick, and configure Fan Support if you use an approved fundraising partner. For paid interactions on channels that permit external URLs, Create your free FanBell page.
